UEFA president opposes EURO 2020 to be held simultaneously in different countries

Baku. 28 August. REPORT.AZ/ UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has opposed hosting 2020 European Championships simultaneously in different countries.

Report informs, the 50-year-old functionary told the Kicker.

The UEFA President said that UEFA had created a great deal of problems by making such a decision. A. Čeferin said that this model has no future: "The decision to hold the European Championship in 13 cities is wrong. This will not be repeated again. We have created a number of problems. Main difficulties is related to logistics, legislative issues related to different currencies in different countries. The idea of joining Europe symbolically is pleasant, but this model has no future".

Notably, the EURO 2020 will be held in 13 European cities. Football fans will gather in Baku (Azerbaijan), St. Petersburg (Russia), Bucharest (Romania), Budapest (Hungary), Munich (Germany), Brussels (Belgium), Amsterdam (the Netherlands), Copenhagen (Denmark), Rome (Italy), Bilbao (Spain), Dublin (Ireland), London (England) and Glasgow (Scotland). This decision was made on the initiative of former UEFA President Michel Platini.
