ST Mirren have thrown out a bid for hero keeper Vaclav Hladky — but are bracing themselves for a second offer.
Report informs citing the The Scottish Sun, Azerbaijani champion Qarabag bid £200,000 for the Czech stopper but saw it immediately rejected by Saints.
St Mirren value Hladky — who has also attracted the interest of the Old Firm after a spectacular five months in Scotland — much higher than that despite the fact he only has a year of his current contract left.
But Azerbaijanis can offer the 28-year-old six times his Saints wages.
And they are set to make an improved offer ahead of their Champions League clash with Albanian outfit Partizan Tirana this week.
Saints believe a massive factor in their favor is that the keeper wants to stay in Scottish football because he believes it will help him achieve his ultimate ambition of playing in England.
