Ronaldo sets Champions League record

Cristiano Ronaldo once again has the bragging rights over Lionel Messi in the Champions League, thanks to another late Manchester United winner on October 20 evening, Report informs referring to Manchester Evening News.

Trailing 2-0 at half-time to Atalanta, and booed off the pitch, United produced a spirited, uplifting second-half comeback to seal an unlikely victory, courtesy of goals from Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Ronaldo.

After Rashford and Maguire found the net via their feet, Ronaldo, as he so often does, did the damage with his head, powering an emphatic effort past Atalanta goalkeeper Juan Musso, before wheeling away to celebrate with the jubilant United fans and his team-mates.

It was the Portugal international’s third goal in the Champions League this season and his sixth since returning to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.

Ronaldo is already the all-time leading goalscorer and appearance holder in the Champions League, and his header against Atalanta took his tally of opponents scored against in the Champions League to 39, nudging himself back in front of Messi.
