Pierluigi Collina not allows Aliyar Aghayev to get first category

Baku. 30 September. REPORT.AZ/ "Aliyar Aghayev may get the first FIFA referee category in summer 2018".

Chairman of AFFA Referees Committee, Khagani Mammadov told Report.

He said that Chairman of the FIFA Referees Committee, Pierluigi Collina has not allowed Aliyar Aghayev to get first category this summer: "Category change occurred twice until last year. But now, the change will take place once during interseasonal break. This summer, the Committee members were not against A. Aghayev's qualifying for the first category. Simply, Collina considered advisable to watch his activity more one year. Now, Aliyar manages international matches well. Last time, he handled Guimaraes- Salsburg match in the Europa League past month and received a high mark.

Kh. Mammadov also clarified the issue why A. Aghayev was not appointed to referee last two rounds in the Premier League. He noted that appointments are based on the number of games: "Non-appointment of A. Aghayev in last two rounds is not related to the penalty. We take into account number of games. We try referees to have more game practice. We appoint those, who managed a few games. He will surely handle a match in the next round".

Notably, currently, Aliyar Aghayev is in the second category of talents.
