New head coach of Qatar national team appointed

Baku. 4 July. REPORT.AZ/ Félix Sánchez was appointed new head coach of Qatar national team. 

Report informs referring to the Qatar Football Association's official website, contract terms with 41-year-old specialist are not disclosed. He has previously led Qatar's youth squads. The Spanish head coach replaced the Uruguayan Jorge Fossati in a new position. Fossati resigned on June 14 for unsuccessful results.

Notably, Qatar national team is on the 5th place in group A in the 2018 World Cup Asian Qualifying Round with 7 points out of 8. This team lost the chance to qualify for the mundial in Russia.

Qatar lost 1: 2 in a friendly match against Azerbaijan on March 9.
