Baku. 10 December. REPORT.AZ/ President of UEFA Michel Platini refused to support Joseph Blatter in FIFA presidential election. Report informs, Platini himself said it to "Europe 1" in his statement.

"Yes, I supported Blatter in 1998. Because he was a suitable candidate for this period," Platini said. He associated his refusal with Blatter's long-term post as the president of FIFA.

78-year-old Swiss man has held this position since 1998 and he spends the 5th duration in the supreme football organization. Though legendary player said that "new breath is needed" he refused to support Blatter's only rival, his former deputy Jerome Champagne. Platini expressed the hope that there will be other candidates till the next elections to be held in May, 2015.
