Khagani Mammadov: UEFA decided to update referee categories list once a year

Baku. 9 December. REPORT.AZ/ "The list on updating referee categories doesn't concern the UEFA. UEFA did not make any changes to the list."

Chairman of the AFFA Referees Committee, Khagani Mammadov told Report commenting on not promoting Azerbaijani FIFA referee Aliyar Aghayev.

Kh.Mammadov said that UEFA Referees Committee will decide on change of the categories only at the end of the season: "An hour ago, I called a member of the UEFA Referees Committee Nikolai Levnikov. He said that list of the FIFA referees wasn't considered. It was decided to be considered in June. A meeting was held yesterday and no decision adopted. A member of the committee has said that Aliyar will get the 1st category. The list published is for this year. Previously, it was updated in June and December, now it will be reviewed only in June. Nikolai Levnikov said that Aliyar Aghayev will be appointed to prestigious competitions."

Committee Chairman also spoke about inclusion of new FIFA referees in the list: "It was decided not to change elite, 1st and 2nd categories in December. Only 3rd category referees, namely newly appointed referees added. Therefore, name of FIFA referee Omar Pashayev also included in the list."
