Baku. 10 July. REPORT.AZ/ Former Manchester United midfielder Philip Mulryne has been ordained a Roman Catholic priest in the Dominican Order.

Report informs citing the foreign media,  39-year-old, who once earned £600,000-a-year during his playing days, has now also taken a vow of poverty.

Fr Mulryne was ordained in Dublin on Saturday.

Archbishop Joseph Augustine Di Noia travelled over to the Republic of Ireland from Rome for the ceremony.

Notably, Mulryne trained in England's club academy with David Beckham, Nicky Butt, brothers Phil Neville and Gary Neville.

However, a northern Irish footballer has played a total of one match in the main team of Manchester United in the 1996-1999 season. The veteran defender played in Norwich, Cardiff City, and Leyton Orient.
