English Premier League plans to resume in June

The English Premier League clubs are building up to restarting games on the weekend of June 13.

They are even beginning to tell staff that there are plans to try and start fixtures again as league bosses seek clearance from the Government as part of Project Restart.

Mirror Sport revealed earlier this month that the Premier League’s best-case scenario is that training can start in May, and then games can begin from June 8.

That date and timeline remain in place, but several clubs now believe fixtures could resume from the second weekend in June if all goes to plan, and they get Government support.

There is still no certainty of WHEN but there is a growing feeling that the Premier League is ready to push ahead with games behind closed doors but also potentially at neutral venues.

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden informed MPs last week that he had been having ‘productive talks’ with sporting bodies, including the Premier League.

Clubs want to have a three-week pre-season ahead of resuming games, the Premier League’s best-case scenario is games resuming from June 8, and there are still more than 100 games left, including the FA Cup.
