Baku. 22 January. REPORT.AZ/ AFFA General Secretary Elkhan Mammadov has commented on rumors about appointment of Mustafa Reşit Akçay as head coach of the Azerbaijan national team.
In his statement to Report Mammadov called it "a speculation" spread by agents. According to him, there were no negotiations with the Turkish manager: “We did not sign a contract or even have negotiations with him. This is a speculation invented by various agents."
Notably, the information that the Azerbaijan national team was entrusted to Mustafa Reşit Akçay was published by "Fanatik". Osmanlıspor FC had been the last club of the 60-year-old specialist until November 2018 when he bid farewell to the team for the reason of weak results.
He also worked with "Gümüşhanespor", "Pazarspor", "Arsinspor", "Ofspor", "Beylerbeyi", "Tavşanlı", "1461 Trabzonspor", "Trabzonspor", "Akhisar Belediyespor" and "Konyaspor".
