Christian McFarlane completes Manchester City transfer

Former US youth international defender Christian McFarlane, 18, has officially joined Premier League side Manchester City from New York City FC, Report informs via Goal.

The Homegrown product made 13 first-team appearances with the Pigeons in 2024, after developing at the MLS NEXT Pro level with NYCFC II. He signed his first professional contract with NYCFC at age 14 in September 2021 and has been with the club since.

Born in the UK, McFarlane represented the United States at the youth national team level but is now provisionally cap-tied to England after featuring in 2024 UEFA European U17 qualifiers with the Three Lions.

The 18-year-old will join the City system this window, looking to work his way up into the senior team under manager Pep Guardiola. With defender Kyle Walker recently departing the club for a loan move to AC Milan, there is now a roster spot on that part of the pitch he can take, but it remains to be seen if he is being looked at in a senior role.
