Chris Brunt : Norway and Azerbaijan games will define rest of our qualifying campaign

Baku. 1 March. REPORT.AZ/ Player of Northern Ireland national football team Chris Brunt commented on their chances in group C of 2018 World Cup qualification round. Report informs, 33-year-old midfielder in his interview to goal.com told that Germany will probably qualify for finals in Russia.

West Bromwich player told that it would be very surprising if Germany didn’t finish top. According to Brunt, second place is a realistic target for them. The player thinks that they are in a good position at the minute and that the next two games will probably define the rest of their qualifying campaign: “Especially I mean the Norway game in March. The new manager (Lars Lagerback) has got a great track-record at international level. He’ll have Norway well-drilled and they’ll be trying to break us down and get a result. It’s up to us to try and get three points and, hopefully, if we can, it will leave us in a good position in the group”.

Northern Ireland played its last game on November 11, 2016 against Azerbaijan at Windsor Park. As more than 4 months will pass since then, they may have problems with tuning on the game on March 26. But according to Brunt, team mates will soon come together and talk about qualification games: “The next few weeks will fly in and the focus will be on that Norway game.”

Notably, Chris Brunt scored the last goal in Azerbaijan game, which they won 4:0. Revenge match between two teams will be played at Baku Bakcell Arena on June 10. Germany leads group C with 12 points after 4 games. North Ireland and Azerbaijan both have 7, Czech Republic - 5, Norway - 3 points. San Marino is at last position without a point.
