Azerbaijani footballers at EURO-2016: Some play for Beşiktaş, others have no clubs - RESEARCH

Three years ago, the head coach Tabriz Hasanov included 20 footballers in the order list.

They are Kamran Ibrahimov, Elchin Asadov, Pilaga Mehdiyev (all Neftchi), Jeyhun Mukhtarli, Suleyman Ahmadov, Nadir Gasimov (all Keshla), Yusif Hasanov, Ibrahim Gadirzade (both Khazar Lankaran), Rijat Garayev (Sumgayit ), Farid Nabiyev (Gabala), Mammad Huseynov ("Qarabag"), Ege Atlam, Hussein Seyligli, Metin Güler (all Besiktas, Turkey), Ismail Karakas, Doğukan Öksüz (both Trabzonspor, Turkey) , Baris Ekinjier (Rot-Vays Essen, Germany) and Murad Mahmudov (Leipzig, Germany). Murad Popov (Gabala) and Bahadur Haziyev (Neftchi) were invited as reserve players.

Over the past period, 13 out of these players have changed their team, the number of legionnaires has increased.

Atlam, Seylifli and Güler are still playing at Besiktas FC. Karakaş and Öksüz have moved from Trabzonspor to 1461 Trabzon.

Those who came from Germany also did not stay idle. Midfielder Ekinjier has moved from Rot-Weiss Essen to Boxum. Midfielder Mahmudov who moved from "Leipzig" to "Eintracht Frankfurt" has turned to 1. FC Frankfurt in the Regional League.

Haziyev with goalkeeper Ibrahimov played within Bosnia and Herzegovina U-21 in a friendly match two months ago.

Ahmadov, Mukhtarli and Gasimov are no longer the players of "Keshla".

Notably, in the European Championship Azerbaijan national team lost to Portugal 5 unanswered goals and then made a 1: 1 draw with Belgium. In the last match, the national team scored 4 points in the final and failed to qualify for the 1/4 finals. The winner of the race was Portugal, which surpassed Spain in the final.
