Azerbaijani coach: I wasn’t dismissed from Indian squad because of physical assault of players

Baku. 31 January. REPORT.AZ/ Indian football authorities prepare to terminate contract with coaches of national U-17 team. 

Report informs referring to The Times of India, the brigade of coaches invited from Azerbaijan reportedly offended players. According to rumors, Indian Football Federation is about to dismiss former head coach of Azerbaijan national U-19 team, German specialist Nikolay Adam and his assistant Etibar Ibrahimov after complaints of U-17 players of physical offence.

Azerbaijani specialist, in his statement to Report, confirmed probability of his dismissal. But he told that the possible termination of the contract is related to team’s poor result in Valentin Granatkin tournament in Saint Petersburg: “I am in Ganja now. I have come here to extend my Visa. But Nikolay Adam called and told that we may terminate the contract. Main discontents are related to Valentin Granatkin tournament. Everything will be clarified in several days. We will know whether we stay or not”.

Ibrahimov rejected allegations on physical assault of players: “These are void talks. You will see everything as soon as decision is announced. I worked in different age national teams in Azerbaijan during 5 years. I haven’t committed any rude behavior during that period. Indian kids are obedient. They were telling us that their fathers and mothers delivered thanks to us, because we treated them like parents. Other issues are simply lies. There were discontents after Granatkin tournament, because we took last place. May be there is something related to this. I say once again that these are void talks. There is no evidence, nothing”.

Notably, Nikolay Adam works for Indian national team since April 1, 2015.
