Baku. 21 December. REPORT.AZ/ The rivals of the national football team of Azerbaijan in Euro-2021 qualifying round have been determined.
Report informs that in the draw, which took place at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, the national team was included into Group D in the 5th basket. The team led by Vugar Askerli will rival Spain, the Czech Republic, Poland and Moldova.
The 48 teams in the draw are divided into 9 groups:
Group A: Netherlands, Russia, Slovenia, Turkey, Kosovo, Estonia
Group B: Italy, Denmark, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, Malta, Georgia
Group C: Norway, Wales, Belarus, Northern Ireland, Faroe Islands
Group D: Spain, Czech Republic, Poland, Moldova, AZERBAIJAN
Group E: Scotland, Finland, Portugal, Albania, Cyprus
Group F: Sweden, Iceland, Hungary, Slovakia, Latvia
Group G: France, Austria, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Hungary
Group H: Switzerland, Belgium, Romania, Croatia, Lithuania
Group I: Germany, Ukraine, Ireland, Greece, Montenegro
Azerbaijan national team will test its strength in the first qualifying round for the first time since 2009. At the same time, Kosovo has been in the draw for the first time ever.
Notably, the team winners and the three best teams will take part in the final stage. The other six teams will play in the final to qualify for the final round in England in 2021.
