Baku. 11 December. REPORT.AZ/ Opponents of U-21 national team of Azerbaijan at the EURO-2021 qualifying round have been determined.
Report informs that, according to the draw held in Nyon, Switzerland, the national team will compete in Group 2 together with France, Slovakia, Switzerland, Georgia and Liechtenstein.
Group 1: Italy, Sweden, Iceland, Ireland, Armenia, Luxembourg
Group 2: France, Slovakia, Switzerland, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Liechtenstein
Group 3: England, Austria, Turkey, Kosovo, Albania, Andorra
Group 4: Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Scotland, Lithuania, San Marino
Group 5: Serbia, Poland, Russia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Estonia
Group 6: Spain, Israel, Montenegro, Macedonia, Kazakhstan, Faroe Islands
Group 7: Portugal, the Netherlands, Norway, Belarus, Cyprus, Gibraltar
Group 8: Denmark, Romania, Ukraine, Finland, Northern Ireland, Malta
Group 9: Germany, Belgium, Wales, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova
Notably, the winners of the nine groups shared by 53 teams will qualify for the final stage. The 8 best runners-up will vie for the last card to the final stage.
EURO-2021 hosts - Hungary and Slovenia - will participate directly in the final stage.
The qualifying round matches will start on March 18, 2019 and will be finalized on October 13, 2020.
Play-off matches will be held on November 9-17, 2020. The final stage will be held in June 2021.
