Armenian provocations make it difficult to ensure safety of Cyprus players

AFFA and UEFA are in talks to hold the Azerbaijan-Cyprus match in the group stage of the UEFA League of Nations, scheduled for October 13, 2020, at the Baku Olympic Stadium, a neutral field, Report says.

According to AFFA's official website, the letter addressed to UEFA repeatedly stated in telephone conversations that the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan and government agencies involved in the organization are ready to hold the game in Baku with full security.

However, the provocations carried out by the Armenian armed forces against our country since September 27, especially in the last 48 hours, the shooting of Ganja and Mingachevir, Khizi, and Absheron regions, which are far from Nagorno-Karabakh and other occupied areas, the targeting of civilians in Tartar, Goranboy, Beylagan, Barda and other settlements, and the deaths and injuries of civilians are clear evidence of Armenia's non-compliance with international law. Although AFFA fully guarantees internal security for the international match, external aggression and terrorist behavior make it difficult to provide such a guarantee in any way.

The aim is to protect visitors from any provocation committed by Armenia. It shows that such actions of the Armenians are a threat to Azerbaijan and foreign teams visiting the country.

Considering the information provided by AFFA, UEFA will announce its final decision on the venue of the Azerbaijan-Cyprus match on October 6.
