9 players of Croatia squad from World Cup 2018 not to play Azerbaijan

Nine members of the Croatian national team, who won a silver medal in the 2018 World Cup, will not participate in the 2020 European Championship qualifier against Azerbaijan.

Report informs that they will miss the match due to penalties and injury problems, some of them have completed their international career.

Defender Dejan Lovren, who has been invited from Liverpool to the national team, will miss the Azerbaijan match due to penalty. He will play in the next match against Hungary. Mario Manđukić, Danijel Subašić and Vedran Ćorluka had their careers ended. Nikola Kalinić has been out of the squad for the time being in the mundial due to the problems with head coach Zlatko Dalić.

Ivan Strinić, Josip Pivarić, Šime Vrsaljko and Marko Pjaca are injured. Ivan Perisic, Ante Rebic and Marcelo Brozovic undergo treatment after trauma and they are ready to play.

Notably, the match with Azerbaijan will be held on March 21 at the Maksim Stadium in Zagreb. The game will begin at 23:45 Baku time.
