UN aims to achieve concrete results in expanding green economy in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is ready to deepen cooperation with partners and provide comprehensive support in successfully implementing the targets that will be set for the coming years, Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev said during the event themed “High-Level Strategic Prioritization” held within the UN-Azerbaijan Cooperation Framework Document on Sustainable Development (2026-2030), Report informs.

"However, it should be particularly emphasized that determining development needs and the framework rights of cooperation with the UN is a matter within the exclusive authority of the state. We hope that the new framework document will be prepared in a way that covers both current realities, Azerbaijan's development indicators achieved over the past five years, its current international position, as well as the expectations of the state and government," Rafiyev noted.

According to him, by becoming part of the cooperation framework for Azerbaijan's sustainable development, the UN aims to achieve concrete results in expanding the green economy and ensuring social inclusiveness: "I believe that in coordination with the UN and other international partners, based on the principle of 'leaving no one behind,' we can strengthen the foundation of a more just, stable and development-oriented society."

Rafiyev said that the Azerbaijani state believes in the power of multilateral diplomacy: "The results of the COP29 climate conference held last year have once again shown that despite all existing global challenges and difficulties, it is possible to achieve effective results. In this framework, Azerbaijan attaches special importance to cooperation with the UN."
