Türkiye's digital banking users exceed 129 million, industry official says

The number of active digital banking customers in Türkiye has exceeded 129 million, Nurullah Bakır, Secretary General of the Banks Association of Türkiye, said at the 10th International Finance and Banking Summit in Baku.

According to Report, he noted that alongside global economic development, new technologies, evolving business models, and changing customer expectations are reshaping the financial system.

"As digitalization deepens rapidly in the financial sector, the use of digital channels is also growing significantly. Digital banking is no longer just an alternative service channel but has become the main service model," Bakır said.

He noted that in 2019 there were about 51 million active digital banking users in Türkiye, while the number has now surpassed 129 million, representing growth of more than 100%.

He added that mobile banking usage has increased by around 200% over the same period, stressing that digital transformation is no longer a future goal but an integral part of everyday life.

Bakır also pointed to open banking applications as one of the key manifestations of this transformation, allowing customers to manage accounts across different banks through a single platform and make instant transfers quickly and conveniently.
