Operations via international payment cards in occupied territories of Azerbaijan stopped

Financial Markets Supervisory Authority (FIMSA) revealed facts about services rendered by banks operating in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan to international payment cards.

FIMSA told Report that it revealed that financial assistance is collected through internet page of the 'finance ministry' of so-called Nagorno Karabakh republic.

‘Existence of these facts means violation of sovereignty and territorial integrity our country, international legal norms, creation of favourable condition for money laundering and financing of terrorism, as well as violation of requirements by international card organizations. On the basis of facts revealed by the FIMSA, meetings were held with the management of “Visa Inc.” və “MasterCard Worldwide” and they were demanded to stop rendering of services to the payment cards under the brand of these organizations in the occupied territories. As a result of complex measures, collection of financial assistance through the internet page of the finance ministry of so-called Nagorno Karabakh republic, as well as accepting of these cards by some banks through ATM network in the occupied territories were stopped’, the FIMSA said.
