Nordic Investment Bank ready to directly finance Azerbaijan

The Nordic Investment Bank is ready to provide direct financial support to Azerbaijan, the Secretary-General of the Bank, Heikki Cantell, told Report at the 24th annual meeting of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB).

“Azerbaijan is not a member of Nordic Investment Bank, but we can sign a cooperation agreement with Azerbaijan. This will allow direct support to Azerbaijan,” Cantell said.

He noted that the Nordic Investment Bank cooperates with the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, which provides financial support for the implementation of projects in Azerbaijan: “To date, Nordik Investment Bank has provided a loan of 1.5 million euros to the BSTDB, half of which was allocated to Azerbaijan. The areas supported by Nordik Investment Bank in Azerbaijan may be related to renewable energy.”
