Baku. 9 March. REPORT.AZ/ "Researches revealed that 20% of women faces with gender discrimination during recruitment".
Report informs, Movlan Pashayev, "PriceWaterhouseCoopers Azerbaijan" Country Managing Partner and a member of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Azerbaijan Board of Directors, said.
According to M.Pashayev, gender stereotypes exist in Azerbaijan for positions in many cases: "There is such an opinion that senior accountant should be female, senior lawyer male".
PwC official believes that Azerbaijani law supports "punishment" of women: "70% of women who are on vacation or on leave want to return to work. But only 20% of them are paid the same or a higher salary. The other part continue to work for less salary. In other words, women are "punished". Azerbaijani legislation does not create high conditions for women. For example, a women on maternity leave get maximum 2000 AZN. Namely, this woman gets 2 000 AZN, however, she used to get 5 000. We support change of this law and will put forward our proposals again".
