IFC announces priorities on Azerbaijan - EXCLUSIVE

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) considers two projects on Azerbaijan a priority in its future activity, Aliya Azimova, IFC Country Representative for Azerbaijan, told Report.

"The main projects, we are focused on in Azerbaijan, include the investment environment and agribusiness competitiveness, as well as the electronic and digital financial services in this country," Azimova said.

She also touched upon an increase in their share in Azerbaijani banks: "We don't receive any appeal on increasing our share in the Azerbaijani banks. Therefore, this issue is not on the agenda yet."

The contract on the project of 'Investment environment and agribusiness competitiveness in Azerbaijan' was signed on May 8, 2019, with Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov representing the Azerbaijani side.

The electronic and digital financial services project has been running since 2017.

Azerbaijan has been in cooperation with the IFC since 1995.
