Hackers steal $1 billion in cryptocurrency in third quarter

In the third quarter of 2021, cyber criminals around the world stole $1.1 billion worth of cryptocurrencies, Report informs, quoting foreign media report of Atlas VPN - information technology security company.
According to the report, the Ethereum ecosystem suffered the most. Over $800 million was lost in 20 hacker attacks during the period under review. The hackers also carried out five large-scale attacks on cryptocurrency exchanges. As a result, the latter lost $114 million. Some $193 million was stolen as a result of attacks on small ecosystems and various fraud schemes.
Atlas VPN estimates that $3.8 billion in cryptocurrency was stolen last year as a result of 122 attacks.
