The European Investment Bank (EIB) intends to support housing projects in countries facing emergency situations, Luis Hebrero Rodriguez, head of Housing, Cities, and Regions Advisory Division at the European Investment Bank, said at a panel discussion as part of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Report informs.
He noted that the EIB, in collaboration with partners such as the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), the French Development Agency, and several other organizations, is implementing projects aimed at providing temporary and emergency housing to people in the most affected regions.
"In particular, the bank participated in housing rehabilitation programs in Türkiye following devastating earthquakes, operated in Pakistan, and is also implementing a joint initiative with UN-Habitat in Kenya. We intervene exclusively in cases where market failures are identified-in the areas of social affordability, energy efficiency, and emergency housing. Furthermore, we plan to support housing projects in countries experiencing emergencies," Rodriguez emphasized.
