Defense, national security spending in Azerbaijan up over 16%

In 2022, Azerbaijan will allocate 6.852 billion manats from the state budget for the maintenance of defense and national security, the judiciary and law enforcement agencies, and the prosecutor's office.
Report informs citing the bill "On the state budget envelope for 2022", that it means 22.9% of next year's budget expenditures, which is 2.6% more than the approved figure for 2021.
Of this amount, 2.89 billion manats (a 16.3% increase year-on-year) will be spent on defense and national security, and 2.362 billion manats (a 12.9% increase year-on-year) on the maintenance of the judiciary and law enforcement agencies and the prosecutor's office.
Besides, 1.6 billion manats are planned for special purchases.
