"In early March, we witnessed the beginning of oil price decline amid the spread of coronavirus infection, and its impact on economic processes, trade, economic growth, assessment, and forecasts," Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Elman Rustamov told journalists.

Report informs that, according to him, financial and macroeconomic stability reigns in Azerbaijan, and the current decline in oil prices cannot create a significant problem in the country's trade or payment balance.

Rustamov noted that now the main task of the government and the CBA is to meet the expectations of the population and market participants who have manat savings: "We undertake all measures to this end. There was a currency auction yesterday, at which the demand was completely met."
