Azerbaijani customs officers confiscate large amounts of alcohol, cigarettes

Employees of the Main Investigation Department under the State Customs Committee prevented the sale of large quantities of alcohol and cigarettes without excise stamps, smuggled into the customs territory of Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the customs committee.

According to the information, the operational directorate of the Main Department received operational information about the storage of various brands of alcohol in Badamdar settlement of Sabail district of Baku without relevant excise stamps, as well as the deliveries of some alcoholic beverages by a Daewoo Damas vehicle for sale.

During the operation carried out by customs officers, a Daewoo Damas car was inspected and 82 different brands of alcohol were found in cardboard boxes and cellophane bags of different sizes stored in the passenger compartment and back of the car. After that, 1,443 alcoholic beverages and 100 boxes of Davidoff gold slims cigarettes were found during the inspection of 2 indoor residential areas in the yard of a house in Badamdar settlement.

The total cost of alcohol and cigarettes is AZN 48,502.
