Azerbaijan spends least money for tobacco and alcohol in Europe

Baku. 12 April. REPORT.AZ/ Ranking of European countries based on spending from family budget for alcohol and tobacco products has been revealed. Report informs referring to report prepared by RIA Rating experts.

According to information, Luxemburg and Cyprus are at the top of the ranking with lowest 1.3% share of spending for alcohol and tobacco products within overall expenditures. Luxemburg is also a leader among European countries with 99 500 USD per capita national income. National income per capita in Cyprus is 33 200 USD. These countries are followed in ranking by Moldova (1.4%, 5 000 USD), Italy (1.8%, 35 800 USD), Portugal (1.9%, 27 900 USD), Slovenia (1.9%, 30 900 USD), Spain (1.9%, 34 900 USD) and Kazakhstan (1.9%, 25 900 USD).

Romania (7.8%, 20 900 USD), Serbia (4.6%, 13 700 USD), Turkey (4,2%, 20 400 USD) are the countries with the highest share of spending for alcohol and tobacco products within aggregate expenses.

Although Azerbaijan hasn’t been included in the ranking, Report’s expert group estimated indicators based on official statistical reports. Thus, share of alcohol and tobacco products in overall spending of Azerbaijani people is 1.57% upon 2015 summary. According to the indicator, Azerbaijan can be ranked 3rd among European countries. Azerbaijan can be ranked penultimate above Moldova by national income of population with 5 559 USD per capita.
