Azerbaijan more than doubles cashless payments

As of May 1, 2022, the number of payment cards in Azerbaijan stood at 11,901,000, up 20.2% from a month earlier, 7.8% from early 2022 and 1.1% from the previous year, Report informs, citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
At the same time, the number of debit cards increased by 18.8% to 10.380 million, and credit cards – by 30.7% to 1.521 million. The turnovers on these cards were 3.929 million manats ($2.31 million) and 270 million manats ($158.8 million), respectively.
In April, the cashless payments amounted to 1.659 million manats ($0.98 billion), showing a 2.3-growth against a year earlier.
As of May 1, 2022, there were 2,933 ATMs and 67,964 POS terminals across the country, respectively, 5.9% and 15.1% more than a year earlier.
