Annual inflation in Azerbaijan down to 11.9%

Baku. 13 February. REPORT.AZ/ Prices for consumer goods and services in Azerbaijan in January 2017 has increased by 11.9% compared to January, 2016.

Report informs citing the State Statistical Committee, prices for food products increased by 14.5%, non-food products 12.3% , tariffs for paid services rendered to population 8.0%.

Prices for consumer goods and services in January 2017 increased by 2.3% compared to December 2016, including food products - by 2.8%, non-food products rose by 2.0%, tariffs for paid services rendered to population - 1.9%.

During the month, prices of rice, floor, buckwheat, macaroni products, beef and mutton, chicken, sausages, fish, dairy products, cheese and eggs, butter and olive oil, sugar and granulated sugar, coffee, tea and cocoa, apples, pears, quince, pomegranates, oranges, tangerines, bananas, cabbage, greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, onions, garlic, carrot, beet increased. The prices of other food products have not significantly changed.

In comparison with December 2016, in January 2017, among non-food products, prices of the fabric, clothing and shoes, building materials, furniture and household goods, jewelry, carpets and floor coverings, glassware, dishes, household appliances, computers, stationary, cars and spare parts for cars increased. The prices of other non-food items have not significantly changed.

During the month, prices of paid services for railway and air transport of passengers to the CIS countries decreased, while air transport to other countries, as well as home appliances and car repair services, medical and dental services, housing rental fees, overnight hotel accommodations increased. The prices of other services have not significantly changed.

Notably, in 2016, consumer goods and tariffs for services in Azerbaijan increased by 12.4% compared to 2015, including for foodstuff products - 14.7%, non-food products - 16.7%, tariffs on rendered to the population paid services - 5.8%.

Compared to November in December 2016, prices for consumer goods and tariffs for services rose by 3.0%, including food prices grew by 4.1%, non-food products - 2.2%, tariffs for the services rendered to population increased by 2.4%.
