ADB appoints new regional director

Baku. 9 February. REPORT.AZ/ Werner Liepach was appointed as the new CEO of the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) Central and West Asia Department.

Report informs, Liepach will oversee 10 countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan). ADB's portfolio for this region is $ 18.6 billion consisting of 155 projects.

The new CEO will oversee projects in seven sectors in these countries. These projects cover sectors such as environment, energy, natural resources and agriculture, transport, public administration, financial sector and trade, regional co-operation and coordination of operations, social and urban development and water supply system improvements.

Notably, Liepach has been ADB Director for Pakistan.
