Southern Gas Corridor to be completed by autumn of 2020

Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov has received the delegation led by the US Department of State Bureau of Energy Resources' Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy Kurt Donnelly.

The US delegation is on a visit to Baku to attend the Sixth Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council.

Report informs citing the Ministry of Energy that the minister highly appreciated the US support to the SGC in reaching the final stage.

"I am grateful to the United States for their support to both the Southern Gas Corridor and other regional and global projects implemented with the initiative of Azerbaijan. As a result of this cooperation, the Southern Gas Corridor will be ready in the autumn of 2020."

The minister shared his views about the development performance of all segments of the SGC, advantages as a diversifying project, prospects of expansion and development of the country's gas reserves.

US Department of State Bureau of Energy Resources' Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy Kurt Donnelly assessed the SGC as a vital project, which connects various countries, companies, and congratulated Azerbaijan for coping with such a large-scale project.

The sides also discussed the expansion of the SGC up to Balkan states, IAP, and other projects.
