SOCAR reveals oil export volume via Baku-Novorossiysk

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) exported 169,450 tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline in the first quarter of 2021, reads the operational report of the Russian federal state budgetary organization “Central Dispatching Department of Fuel Energy Complex,” Report informs referring to Interfax.

"As part of the system of the Transneft company, the transit of oil from Azerbaijan to the port of Novorossiysk in the first quarter of 2021 amounted to 169,450 tons. At the same time, in March, oil exports along this route amounted to 169,300 tons," the report noted.

In the first quarter of 2020, the pumped volume amounted to 29,550 tons. Thus, the pumped volume has increased 5.7 times.

In January 2021, the pumping of crude from Azerbaijan in the direction of Novorossiysk wasn’t carried out, since all volumes of SOCAR were sent through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline.

Since February 15, SOCAR has resumed oil export via the "northern" oil pipeline.

On January 20, Adviser to the president of the Russian pipeline monopoly, Press Secretary Igor Demin told Interfax that Transneft and SOCAR had signed an agreement to pump over 1 million tons of oil through the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline in 2021.

According to the Central Dispatching Department of Fuel Energy Complex, SOCAR exported 613,290 tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk oil pipeline in 2020.

Azerbaijan has been transporting its oil through the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline since 1997.
