SOCAR extends support for Georgian farmers for another year

The state program for purchasing agricultural diesel by Georgian farmers at preferential prices will continue until the end of 2021, the Georgian bureau of Report informs.

A memorandum was inked between the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and SOCAR Georgia Petroleum, a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Georgia.

The document was signed by Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili and General Director of SOCAR Georgia Petroleum Levan Giorgadze. The ceremony was also attended by General Director of SOCAR Energy Georgia Mahir Mammadov and Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Faig Guliyev.

Davitashvili noted that as a result of cooperation with SOCAR Georgia Petroleum, the agro-diesel program was successfully implemented in 2020. He said that 125,000 farmers took advantage of this program and saved more than 7 million lari ($2.1 million).

Individuals and legal entities who own agricultural land with an area of ​​at least 0.25 hectares can benefit from the state support program. According to the program, the diesel fuel limit per 1 hectare is 150 liters, and farmers can get fuel 16-20 tetri cheaper.
