SOCAR: 11 LPG tanks are brought to oil refinery

11 LPG high pressure tanks (bullets) (45-50 bar) are being brought to the refinery as part of modernization of the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery, Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of the SOCAR public relations and event management department, told Report.

According to him, the bullet tanks, which were produced in Italy and Romania, are more than 300 tonnes in weight, 30-60 meters in length: "Five of them have already been delivered to Azerbaijan, one is on the way to the refinery. The first bullet tank is expected to arrive at the refinery tomorrow morning.

"Modernization of the refinery will enable production of Euro-5 fuel inside the country and increase annual production. The modernization works are being carried out on par with production. The refinery operates in full capacity throughout a year and at the same time, plants are being renewed and construction works are carried out in new plants. But it should be noted that some of the works can be carried out when the plants stop operation."

The refinery is processing 15 different petroleum products, including automotive gasoline, aviation kerosene, diesel fuel, black oil, petroleum coke, and others. Currently, phase 2 and phase 3 of modernization project are being implemented in the refinery. In 2021-2022, the refinery is planned to produce Euro-5 diesel and gasoline. The works to increase the production capacity to 7.5 million tonnes are planned to be completed in 2024-2025.
