Oil production in Gulf of Mexico falls 91%

Oil production in the Gulf of Mexico as of August 28 has decreased by 91 percent due to Hurricane Ida, according to the US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, Report informs.

Gas production fell by 85 percent.

Companies operating in the Gulf had to evacuate personnel from 279 out of 560 production platforms and from all 11 drilling platforms in the region. At the same time, after the hurricane passes, production facilities will be checked, and the undamaged facilities will be immediately put into operation.

The current situation at the end of last week pushed oil prices up. As of 12:08 (GMT+4) on August 28, the price of a barrel of North Sea Brent oil on the ICE was $72.39 (-0.426 percent), WTI oil was trading at $68.05 (-1.004 percent) per barrel.
