Irakli Garibashvili mulls role of South Caucasus Pipeline with BP official

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has met with Gary Jones, BP Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey, the local bureau of Report informs, citing the Georgian government administration.

The meeting focused on BP's investments in Georgia. It stated that the company has been cooperating closely with the Georgian government for 25 years and is one of the largest investors in the country.

It was noted that the Georgian side is ready to discuss with BP various investment areas and opportunities for the development of projects in the field of renewable energy.

The parties stressed the importance of the company's projects in Georgia, the Baku-Supsa pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, and the South Caucasus Pipeline, which delivers natural gas from the Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey.

The head of BP Georgia, Aytan Hajiyeva, also attended the meeting.
