Hungary’s MOL starts using Azerbaijani oil at its refinery

The Hungarian company MOL has started using Azerbaijani oil for the production of various types of fuel at its refinery in Bratislava, Report informs referring to the company’s press service.

A batch of Azeri Light grade oil will be delivered to the plant in Bratislava from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) fields on the Caspian shelf, in the development of which MOL takes part as part of an international consortium.

First, the oil came from the offshore field to the Sangachal terminal near Baku, and from there it was pumped to the Turkish port on the Mediterranean Sea via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline, among whose shareholders MOL is also present.

“Some 90,000 tons of crude oil were delivered from the port of Ceyhan in Türkiye by the tanker Seavelvet to the port of Omisalj in Croatia, which will be transported via the Adriatic pipeline to the refinery of Slovnaft (a subsidiary of MOL - ed.) in Slovakia,” the Hungarian company added.

The supply of Azerbaijani oil to the refinery in Bratislava will allow MOL to create a new production chain from the extraction of raw materials to the sale of finished petroleum products.
