Azerbaijan plays an important role in diversifying energy supplies to the European Union, and a peaceful settlement between Baku and Yerevan will contribute to even greater development of transport and economic ties in Eurasia, energy expert Samuele Furfari told Report at the presentation of his new book "Azerbaijan: Energy Geopolitics in a Changing Eurasia" in Brussels.
According to Furfari, the EU needs to diversify its energy supply sources, and Azerbaijan is one of the key partners in this direction.
"It is important to convey here, in Brussels, the role of Azerbaijan in increasing energy supplies to the European Union - oil and gas," he said.
According to Furfari, cooperation with Azerbaijan goes beyond energy and plays an important role in ensuring regional stability.
"An agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan is very important for establishing peace in the region and in the world as a whole," he stated.
According to him, the development of transport corridors contributes to strengthening ties between states and reduces the risks of conflicts.
Economic cooperation and the exchange of goods make countries more interconnected and create conditions for long-term peace, the expert added.
Furfari also drew a parallel with the history of the European Union, noting that European integration became possible thanks to the development of infrastructure and the expansion of economic exchanges between countries.
