Belarus discovers 8 new oil deposits over past five years

Specialists of the Belorusneft company discovered the Guryanovskoye field. The new facility is located in the Pripyat trough in the Rechitsa district, Report informs, citing Belarus press.

According to preliminary estimates, the geological reserves of the Guryanovskoye field may amount to 600,000 tons. Tests of oil-bearing deposits give reason to believe that there will be a fountain inflow of oil.

Specialists will perform a more accurate calculation of hydrocarbon reserves and their setting on the state balance after the construction and development of the well and clarify the geological structure of the Guryanovskoye field.

"The results of drilling and the discovery of a new deposit increase the prospects and resource potential of the Central structural zone of the Pripyat Trough. In 2021-2022, 13 exploration wells are planned to be drilled here, " the company said.

The geological survey makes very cautious forecasts on the debit. "The fountain inflow is expected at the level of 20-30 tons per day. And for our region, this is quite a decent indicator. In the future, with the use of the latest technologies, we can expect up to 50 tons per day," said Sergey Shevelenko, Deputy Head of Geology at NGDU Rechitsaneft.

Recent discoveries confirm the prospects of the central structural zone of the Pripyat Trough. After all, in general, eight deposits have been discovered in this structural zone, five of which have been discovered in the last three years.

According to world statistics, on average, 3-4 out of 10 exploration wells become productive industrial wells. In Belarus, this percentage is slightly higher - about 60%.

In total, the company plans to produce 1.73 million tons of oil in 2021.
