Azerbaijan sees rise in electricity production

In the first quarter of 2020, the electricity production in the country increased by 175.1 million kWh or 2.57% to 6,967.7 million kWh, Report informs citing Ministry of Energy.

In the reporting period, the production in the Thermal Power Stations (TPS) grew 257.3 million kWh to 6,657.6 million kWh, in Water Power Stations (WPS) declined by 83.0 million kWh to 220.5 million kWh, in other sources rose 0.9 million kWh to 89.7 million kWh. Wind Power Stations produced 24.9 million kWh of energy, Solar Power Stations – 9.1 million kWh, and Solid waste incineration plant – 55.6 million kWh.

Energy production from Azerenergy OJSC stood at 6,295.6 million kWh (TPSs – 6,099.8 million kWh, WPS – 195.8 million kWh), from State Energy Service of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) – at 83.6 million kWh (TPSs – 54.7 million kWh, WPS – 21.2 million kWh, Solar Power Stations – 7.7 million kWh), from other Power Stations - 588.5 million kWh.

In the first quarter of 2020, electricity export made up 483.2 million kWh, down 29.9 million kWh from 2019. Electricity import dropped 14.0 million kWh to 27.0 million kWh.
