Azerbaijan’s gas exports to Europe surge in Q1

A total of 3.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas were exported from Azerbaijan to Europe in the first three months of 2024, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Energy.

This is an increase of 0.3 billion cubic meters, or 10.3 percent, compared to the same period in 2023.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan’s overall gas exports stood at 6.4 billion cubic meters in January-March of 2024, which remained unchanged in comparison to the same period of the previous year.

Over the course of three months, Azerbaijan sold 2.3 billion cubic meters of gas to Türkiye, and 0.9 billion cubic meters to Georgia. Gas exports to Türkiye fell by 0.4 billion cubic meters, or 14.8 percent, while the volume of natural gas transported to Georgia did not change compared to the same period of the previous year.

In January-March 2024, about 1.3 billion cubic meters of gas were transported to Türkiye through the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP), representing a decrease of 0.1 billion cubic meters, or 7.14 percent, compared to the indicator of 2023.
