Azerbaijan posts over 7.5-fold increase in wind power production

The production in the sector of electric power, gas and steam production, distribution and supply amounted to AZN 711,700,000 in January-April 2019, up 2.1% from 2018, Report informs citing the State Statistical Committee.

Production in water supply, waste treatment and processing sector has risen by 9.4% settling at AZN 101.6 million.

In the reporting period, Azerbaijan produced 8,197,300,000 kWh of electric power, up 4.4% in comparison to a year earlier.

Of this, 434.5 million kWh was produced at hydro power plants, down 16.4% by contrast to a year ago.

Heating power stations produced 7,435.2 million kWh of energy, 5.9% more than in 2018.

Wind power production rose 7.5-fold to 40.5 million kWh, solar power production declined by 33.6% to 7.5 million kWh.
