More than 17 thousand Azerbaijani students study in Turkey

Baku. 4 May. REPORT.AZ/ 17078 Azerbaijani students study in Turkish universities in 2017/2018 academic year, Report informs citing the Milliyet.

The Turkish Higher Education Institution publishes statistics on the number of foreign students in higher education institutions in the country. 

According to the report, Syrians are on the first place in the number of foreigners studying in Turkey. Syrians make up 20.68 thousand out of 117.81 thousand foreign students, which means that every 18 foreign students in Turkey is a Syrian.

Azerbaijan is second in the list with 17,078 students. Third-Turkmenistan with 12 220 students. Next is Iran, with 6 350 students. Afghanistan settles in fifth place with 5,820 students.

The Institution notes that students from more than 200 countries, including Africa, the Arab countries and the Balkan Peninsula, are currently studying in Turkey.
