Education Minister: Religion will not be taught as a separate subject in secondary schools

"Religion will not be taught as a new subject in the secondary schools of Azerbaijan," Minister of Education Jeyhun Bayramov said.
The minister said that according to the legislation of Azerbaijan's educational standards, teaching of religious subjects is not envisaged in the secondary schools: "It is not a religious education to give information in this field within the different subjects in accordance with the age categories of the students. Student is informed about different religions. It is possible to find some information on religion at the lessons of 'Learning the world'.
Bayramov said that there is not something new on this issue: "Information about the religion has been given in the aforementioned textbooks since 2018 ."
