The event was attended by the leadership, teachers, administrative workers, and students of Baku Higher Oil School.

The event started with the anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Opening the official part of the event with an introductory speech, Rector of Baku Higher Oil School Elmar Gasimov congratulated the entire BHOS family on the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and the upcoming year 2020 and wished them success in the new year.

The rector noted that the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis, which has been celebrated since December 31, 1989, is a holiday that plays an essential role in establishing unity and solidarity with all Azerbaijanis living in different countries.

"The outgoing 2019 year was remarkable for our country and our people. As a result of the purposeful policy carried out in Azerbaijan, the dynamic development of our country has accelerated, its international reputation has strengthened, and the welfare of our people has increased. This year was also successful for the oil and gas sector. The celebration of the 70th anniversary of the legendary "Oil Rocks," the commissioning of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), went down in history as landmark events in the field of energy. The year 2019 was also successful for Baku Higher Oil School, which is a higher education institution training highly qualified engineers for the energy sector. This year, our school has successfully continued its mission of training professional, highly intellectual personnel."

Elmar Gasimov also noted that 23 BHOS students who showed the highest results in the first group of specialties were awarded a presidential scholarship. The award is under Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev "On granting a presidential scholarship to the students who entered the higher education institutions in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2018/2019 academic year.

"This year, high school graduates who scored the highest points in Group I again chose to study at BHOS. 103 students who entered universities in the 2019/2020 academic year scored more than 650 points. This year, as in the previous years, the two departments of BHOS – Information Security and Process Automation Engineering – had the highest passing scores of 673,5 and 657,8 points, respectively, among universities in the country. It should also be noted that all BHOS graduates work in international, transnational, and local companies," he said.

At the event, video fragments from the operetta "If Not That One, Then This One," performed by BHOS students, were shown. Then, the persons who were involved in the production of the operetta were awarded.

Within the event, the students who were selected for the Master's program "On conveying technological knowledge to students studying in the oil, gas and petrochemical fields," which is a joint project of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Italian oil, and gas company TechnipFMC and the Erasmus+ program, held presentations.

Then, the second, artistic part of the event began. The participants of the event were enthused by the repertoires performed by the students of BHOS and Azerbaijan National Conservatory.
