Chinese universities have postponed the return of international students to an indefinite period, a student at the University of Science and Technology of China Ulker Eldarqyzy told Report.
China has sent an official message to the students who returned home before the spring semester
Ulker said she received two formal letters saying the spring semester had been postponed for an indefinite period, adding that she had already got a second letter.
"Every day, they contact us and say they don't know when the spring semester starts. It means that we can't return to China unless they allow us to."
The letter addressed to the students said students would be seriously punished if they return to the Hefei campuses.
The message follows an outbreak of the novel coronavirus that has already claimed more than a hundred lives in China, with thousands infected.
