Azerbaijan suspends teaching process

Azerbaijani Prime Minister has signed an order to suspend the teaching and learning process in all educational facilities in the country until the end of the 2019-2020 academic year.

Under the proper order, the postponed measures do not include the assessment (attestation) of students, examinations and interviews related to the admission of children (students) to general education institutions, reception of citizens' appeals regarding issuance of various references and documents, other proceedings not directly related to the teaching and educational process.

All the activities mentioned above should comply with the rules of the quarantine regime introduced by law to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan confirmed a total of 5,662 coronavirus cases, 3,508 recoveries, and 68 related deaths so far.

The country imposed a month-long lockdown on March 24 and first extended it until May 31, then June 15.

From May 31, the country eased some restrictions, reopening large shopping centers and malls (except for children and other entertainment centers, cinemas, and public catering spaces), allowing outdoor sports events without spectators. Moreover, on-site customer service in restaurants, cafés, tea houses, as well as all public catering establishments will be restored from 08:00 to 22:00 (except for the public catering establishments using hookah and organization of mass festivities, meetings with more than ten people).
